01/11/2016   Election Fever- School Councillors chosen during Democracy Week

New School Councillors voted into office for 2016-2017

During our Democracy week children across the school were busy voting for their new School Council. We are delighted to share with you our new councillors for 2016-17. We have representatives from Year 1 to Year 6. Reception children will join the council during the summer term - until then their pupil voice is gathered by the year 6 representatives.

Democracy Week 10th - 14th October

During our Democracy week children will be campaigning in order to win votes for their place on the new School Council. The standard of applications this year has been excellent and we are all looking forward to hearing the persuasive speeches in assembly on Wednesday. Good luck to all the prospective candidates.

2016 - 2017 School Councillors will be announced on Monday 17th October.

On Friday 13th November, as arranged by the School and Enterprise Council, the pupils of Wyberton donned spotty outfits in aid of Children in Need! We were overwhelmed with the effort put into the children's outfits, with many outfits having been made by the children. The School Council chose two children from each year group to receive a special certificate for their efforts. Well done to the lucky winners!

We also held a coffee morning for parents, friends and families. A huge thank you goes to all of those who attended, those who made cakes for children to sell and to the staff who supported this event. I am sure you will agree that it was a great success!

Due to the collective efforts and kind donations of cakes to be sold, we raised a staggering £200.01 for this worthy cause.

Well done Wyberton!

It has been another busy week at Wyberton as many children across the school worked tirelessly to make posters for an application for the School Council. As we are a democratic school, the children in Key Stage 2 were given chance to vote for two people within their classes from those that had applied. The votes were counted and on Friday's Celebration Assembly, the successful candidates were awarded with their School Council badges! A huge congratulations goes to the following children who are our new School Council members:

They shall be meeting as a group this week for the first time, so if there are any issues you would like them to discuss, please let your representative know!

Keep your eyes peeled for their latest project!
